A DOVID applicator uses controlled heat, pressure, feed and registration to position a diffractive optical security feature on a document or substrate. Dimuken offers configurations for sheet-fed, continuous-web and polycarbonate workflows.

Feed format and registration are central decisions

Machine selection depends on whether material is sheet-fed, pin-fed, pinless web-fed or supplied as polycarbonate rolls or sheets. Registered optical images require controlled positioning; random-pattern and conventional hot-foil work create different requirements.

What to provide for line evaluation

Send the document or substrate dimensions, material, feed format, foil/security feature information, required positions, throughput target, upstream/downstream process and sample material. Final specifications must be confirmed against the selected model’s current Dimuken documentation.

Registered DOVID application on polycarbonate security documents

For ID, passport and other high-security documents, the optical device must not only be present; it must be positioned repeatably without compromising the polycarbonate structure or downstream lamination process.

The evaluated configuration combines controlled polycarbonate handling with precision hot-stamping of registered DOVID or holographic images. Final configuration depends on material thickness, image layout, required registration tolerance and downstream lamination.

Registered hologram application for sheet-fed or continuous-web production

The engineering challenge in security finishing is not simply applying a hologram but transferring each registered foil image repeatedly to the intended position. The configuration therefore depends on sheet/web handling, registration logic and the number of foil streams required.

Evaluation should cover substrate, feed mode, image repeat, print-mark logic, foil direction and stamping parameters as one integrated process.
